Steve visited Harry on May 27, 1988 and Harry autographed it for him...

On September 4th, 2013 I *finally* located the magazine and acquired a FULL COLOR copy of this absolutely gorgeous illustration!!

In my opinion this is one of Harry's most beautiful paintings!

Harry told Steve that the dog was "very difficult" to pose & paint...but he turned out GREAT!

Byron Souder posed for this painting, he's holding the sled!

Back in 2007 a person posted on a blog that he was looking for this illustration -- I read that blog in Feb 2014 and contacted him -- he told me that back in July 1946 on a very hot summer day he and his sister (the girl in the foreground) posed with some other local kids for Harry Anderson for this painting when they lived in Washington D.C.!  The boy pointing at him was Elvin Gibson, who grew up to be an Adventist physician who practiced in Tennessee but is no longer alive -- Byron is 77 years old at this time in 2014, and he was thrilled to finally see this painting and all the other Harry Anderson's on this website!

INTERESTING COMPARISON:  John Gannam was another good artist who illustrated for the same magazines as Harry, and this Gannam piece appeared 5 years earlier in a 1943 Good Housekeeping:
